The IPPM’s Honorary President, Prof. Dr. Arben Malaj, on the current Kosovo-Serbia issues

The Honorary President of the Institute for Public Policies and Good Governance, Prof. Dr. Arben Malaj, guest on “Political Bureau” show on ABC News has expressed about the latest discussions and the current Kosovo-Serbia issues.

Prof. Dr. Malaj expressed his support for any action by the Kosovo government for reciprocity in economic and political relations with Serbia. On the other hand, he says that Kosovo’s 100% tariff to Serbia’s imports requires Kosovo to identify and substantiate any breaches of WTO and CEFTA trade policies. In the following, Prof. Dr. Malaj said that this tax cannot function for a long time as a political counterattack.

Also Prof. Dr. Arben Malaj said that this political response of Kosovo should be used with professionalism and dedication to clarify all violations of the Serbian side through non-tariff barriers to benefit in an abusively way.

Prof. Dr. Malaj suggested that this period may be useful to restructure Kosovo’s trading partners, but in essence it should aim at increasing productivity and competitiveness.
