IPPM Research Economist participated in 5th Conference of the LSEE Research Network on Social Cohesion in South East Europe

IPPM Research Economist Kseniia Oleneva participated in 5th Conference of the LSEE
Research Network on Social Cohesion in South East Europe with the subject “Economic and social
inclusion in an age of political uncertainty in South East Europe” and presented her research
paper “Self-employment as a viable solution for youth integration in the labor market: The case
of Albania”. Research findings show that self-employment has a positive contribution to regional
economic development and can help to reduce the per capita income ‘gap’ between rural and
urban areas.
The conference was organized jointly by LSEE Research on South East Europe and the
European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, and took place in Belgrade on 21-22
November 2019.
The conference brought together leading scholars and practitioners working on the broad theme
of economic and social inclusion in South East Europe to present their latest research findings
on these issues.
During the two days conference has been presented 32 Research papers focused on wide
range of themes including social protection policies and Innovation, labor market institutions and
youth employment, Inequality and redistribution, fiscal decentralization and unequal
development.
